Before you start

Have these ready. It takes about as long as the form itself to hunt for them halfway through.

  • CNIC, Form-B or NICOP number. NUST's salient features page says one of these is mandatory. Foreign nationals give a passport number instead.
  • An email address you check. NUST sends your login, form confirmation and admit card notices to it.
  • A passport-size photo. Not more than one month old, with a plain background.
  • Your marks. SSC marks, and HSSC Part-1 marks or your full HSSC result. O/A-Level students use the marks on their IBCC equivalence certificate, not their own conversion.
  • Your programme preferences, in order.

You don't upload certificates. The FAQ says the online system does not need documents attached. You show them later, during selection and admission.

The steps, as NUST lists them

These follow NUST's procedure of admission page.

  1. Register. Go to ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk and choose New Registration for NET. Register with a valid email address. NUST allots a password against that email, which you use to log in.
  2. Fill the online form. Enter your personal details, academic marks and programme preferences. Upload the photo. Submit.
  3. Check your email. NUST confirms a successful submission by email. If no email arrives, the form did not go through.
  4. Print the fee invoice. Log in again and print the invoice from the My Account page.
  5. Pay the fee. Use the 17-digit 1Bill invoice number through any bank's app or online banking, an ATM, Easy Paisa or Jazz Cash. A 1Link payment is verified instantly. Credit card is the other option.
  6. Choose your test slot. For the computer-based test, pick a test date and session from the available options. You then get a roll number, test centre, session, login ID and password.
  7. Paper-based test candidates wait for an email. For PBNET, dates and sessions are allotted first come, first served. NUST emails you when admit cards are ready to print.

Marks and preferences: get these right

Two fields cause most problems later.

Marks. NUST's selection process page says marks must match your original documents. O/A-Level candidates must enter the IBCC equivalence marks and avoid self-calculated figures, which "will affect their merit position and may lead to cancellation of admission at later stage". Your merit is built from what you type here.

Preferences. NUST only considers you for programmes you selected in the online form. It offers admission by your preference order and merit position. After merit lists come out, you get 1 to 2 days to edit preferences within some disciplines, and one formal change of preference during selection. Don't count on fixing it later. Pick programmes you would actually join, in the order you want them.

If you sit NET-Engineering, NUST's weightings page says you can also opt for BS Robotics & AI, BS Bioinformatics, BS Mathematics, BS Physics, BS Chemistry and BS Food Science & Technology without paying an extra fee or sitting a separate NET.

Fees

CandidateFee per exam
Pakistani or dual-nationalityRs. 5,000 or USD 40
Foreign national (non-Pakistani)Rs. 10,000 or USD 80

The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, and it only covers the series you paid for. Sitting another series means another form and another payment. How many times you can take NET covers the attempt rules.

First, second and third position holders in HSSC board exams are exempt from the fee. NUST asks them to email the admissions office with proof from their board.

NUST also runs a need-based scholarship form alongside the NET registration form, according to its UG brochure. If money is tight, fill it at the same time. The scholarships post explains how it works.

When to apply

NET-2027 Series-1 registration runs from 4 October to 14 November 2026. NUST has published only month windows for the later series. All four are in the NET 2027 dates post, and our dates page tracks the live deadlines.

After you apply

For CBNET, your admit card details (roll number, centre, session) are in your portal account once you pick a slot. For PBNET, wait for NUST's email and print the admit card it points you to.

On test day you need the printed admit card and one original photo ID. The test day checklist has the full list.

Getting help

NUST's UG help desk lists +92-51-90856878 for NET queries. Fee deposit and verification questions go to the Finance Directorate on +92-51-90856880. Both numbers are on the help desk page.
