How to check your NET result, and what the score means

NUST posts NET results on its admissions portal, ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk, where you look them up with your roll number. A computer-based NET (Islamabad, Quetta) result comes out within 24 hours. A paper-based NET (Karachi, Gilgit) result takes 5 to 7 working days. Your score is out of 200 and carries 75% of your merit aggregate.

Key facts

  • CBNET result: within 24 hours
  • PBNET result: within 5 to 7 working days
  • Look up the result with your roll number on the admissions portal
  • NET is 75% of the aggregate, HSSC 15%, SSC 10%
  • Best score across series counts. The result is valid for the current cycle only
  • Re-checking exists for the paper-based test only

When your result comes out

CityModeResult time
IslamabadCBNETwithin 24 hours
QuettaCBNETwithin 24 hours
KarachiPBNET5 to 7 working days
GilgitPBNET5 to 7 working days

The gap is about marking. CBNET answers are already in NUST's system when you press FINISH. PBNET answer sheets have to be collected and marked first. If you sit a morning CBNET session, expect your score by the next morning at the latest.

Where to check it

NUST's FAQ says you view the result by entering your roll number on the result page of the admissions portal. The FAQ also says you can get your detailed test result from a link on the NUST website.

Your roll number is on your admit card. For CBNET, it is also in your portal account from the moment you book a slot. Keep it somewhere other than the admit card, because NUST keeps the admit card at the test centre.

One warning: when we checked in October 2026, before any NET-2027 test had been held, the result link given in the FAQ returned a "page not found" error. The page may only go live while a series is running. If it doesn't load after your test, check the portal home page, or call the NET help desk on +92-51-90856878.

What your score means for merit

A NET score on its own doesn't tell you whether you are in. NUST builds an aggregate:

aggregate = (NET / 200) x 75
          + (HSSC marks / HSSC total) x 15
          + (SSC marks / 1100) x 10

HSSC total is 550 if you applied on Part-1 alone, or 1100 for a full result. A-Level final-year students have their O-Level equivalence weighted at 25% instead. The merit formula post has a worked example.

The number to remember: each NET mark is worth 0.375 aggregate points (75 divided by 200). Ten more NET marks move your aggregate by 3.75. Nothing else you can still change moves it that fast.

Is your score good enough?

That depends on the programme, and on everyone else who applied that year. NUST ranks candidates. It doesn't set a fixed passing score. Its procedure page says closing merit from the previous session is published on its website for guidance. Compare your aggregate with that, not with what a friend's cousin got in.

The what NET score you need and NUST closing merit posts go through that comparison.

What happens to the score next

It waits for the merit list. Your score is stored against your registration. If you sit more than one series, the system picks your best score. You don't submit anything.

It expires at the end of the cycle. NUST says the NET result is valid for the current admission cycle only. A NET-2027 score does nothing for NET-2028.

Merit lists come in July. NUST's selection page says merit lists are generated, tentatively, by the last week of July. You then search your merit position and selection status on the same portal with your registration number. Selected candidates find a provisional selection letter and fee invoice there. The merit list guide explains the rounds.

If you think your result is wrong

NUST allows re-checking for the paper-based test only. The rules:

  • Apply within 5 days of the result announcement.
  • Send a Rs. 500 bank draft or pay order in favour of NUST.
  • Post the original draft, with a written application, to the Admissions Directorate, NUST, Sector H-12, Islamabad.

Re-checking only verifies unmarked answers and the totalling of marks. It is not a remark of your answers. NUST publishes no re-checking route for CBNET.

If the score is lower than you wanted

Don't decide anything on the day. A low score in an early series is not on your record in any way that matters, because only the best score counts. Work out which subject cost you the most marks against its weighting, then decide whether another series is worth the fee. How many times you can take NET covers the rules.

FAQ

How long does it take for NET result to come?

Within 24 hours for computer-based NET in Islamabad and Quetta, and 5 to 7 working days for paper-based NET in Karachi and Gilgit.

How can I check my NUST NET result?

On the NUST admissions portal, ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk, by entering your roll number on the result page.

Is 120 a good score in NET?

It depends on your programme and your board marks. Put 120 into the aggregate calculator with your SSC and HSSC marks, then compare with NUST's published closing merit.

Can I get my NET paper rechecked?

Only the paper-based test. Apply within 5 days of the result with a Rs. 500 bank draft. NUST checks for unmarked answers and totalling errors.

Does NUST use my best NET score or the last one?

The best. NUST's procedure page says the system picks the best score for merit generation.
