NUST offers Electrical Engineering at four places: SEECS in Islamabad, CoEME and MCS in Rawalpindi, and PNEC in Karachi. You get in through NET-Engineering (Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%) with at least 60% in both SSC and HSSC.
Key facts
- EE schools: SEECS (Islamabad), CoEME (Rawalpindi), MCS (Rawalpindi), PNEC (Karachi)
- Paper: NET-Engineering, Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%
- Minimum 60% in SSC and in HSSC
- Merit: NET 75%, HSSC 15%, SSC 10%
- Tuition 2026-27: Rs 216,750 per semester for engineering programmes

The four EE schools
Same degree title, four different places to spend four years. Each school's site lists a "Bachelor of Electrical Engineering for Fall 2025 and onward" scheme, so the current intake at all four follows a recent curriculum.
| School | City | Other programmes at the same school |
|---|---|---|
| SEECS | Islamabad (H-12) | Computer and Software Engineering, BS CS, AI, Data Science |
| CoEME | Rawalpindi | Mechanical, Mechatronics and Computer Engineering |
| MCS | Rawalpindi | Software Engineering, BE Information Security |
| PNEC | Karachi | Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, BS CS |
The neighbours matter. SEECS puts EE next to computing, which suits you if you lean toward embedded systems or communications. CoEME puts it beside mechanical and mechatronics. MCS is a signals college and sits next to information security.
Start dates differ too. For the 2026 intake, NUST lists September for SEECS, CoEME and PNEC and October for MCS.
Close relatives of EE
If your real interest is circuits and electronics, these programmes sit near EE on NUST's list:
- Computer Engineering at SEECS and CoEME
- Avionics Engineering at CAE, Risalpur. Foreign nationals cannot apply for CAE's Avionics or Aerospace programmes.
- Mechatronics Engineering at CoEME
- Energy Engineering at USPCAS-E, Islamabad
All of them are engineering programmes in the same discipline group and use the same paper. During selection NUST lets you change preferences within a discipline group, so listing several of them costs you nothing extra.
Eligibility
The rules are NUST's general engineering rules. You need SSC with Science and at least 60%, plus HSSC with at least 60% in one of these:
| HSSC background | Can apply for EE? | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-Engineering | Yes | None |
| ICS (Maths, Physics, CS) | Yes | Clear Chemistry as a remedial course in the first semester |
| Pre-Medical with additional Maths | Yes | None |
| Pre-Medical without additional Maths | Yes | Pass NUST's 8-week online Mathematics course before admission |
For NET-2027, NUST says the Mathematics course must be finished before 25 July 2027 with at least 60%. That rule comes from a PEC regulation, so do not expect an exception.
A-Level students need IBCC equivalence with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, or the CS or Pre-Medical equivalents.
DAE holders can also apply on open merit with 60% in Matric and DAE. NUST's DAE list allows Electrical Engineering for many diplomas, including Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Computer Information Technology and Avionics.
The paper and what it rewards
Everyone sits NET-Engineering. On 200 questions, the derived split is about 100 Mathematics, 60 Physics and 40 English. NUST publishes only the percentages.
Electrical students sometimes assume Physics will carry them. It won't. Physics is 30% of the paper, Mathematics is 50%. A strong FSc physics student who neglects calculus will lose to a solid maths student nearly every time.
The physics you do need leans toward the chapters you will meet again in your first year. Practise electrostatics and current electricity and electromagnetism until they are quick.
What it costs
NUST's 2026-27 fee page puts all engineering programmes in one column:
| Item | Amount (PKR) |
|---|---|
| Admission processing fee (non-refundable) | 35,000 |
| Security deposit (refundable) | 10,000 |
| Tuition per semester | 216,750 |
| Miscellaneous per semester | 5,000 |
That is the same at all four EE schools. NUST revises fees each year. The fee structure guide has the full table and the scholarships guide covers need-based aid.
How to pick between the four
Nobody can tell you SEECS EE closes at a particular aggregate, because NUST ranks applicants fresh every cycle. What you can do:
- Decide which cities you would live in.
- List every EE school in those cities, plus the related programmes you would accept.
- Order them by what you want, not by what you guess is easier.
- Check your aggregate in the calculator and push NET as high as it goes, since NET carries 75% of merit.
FAQ
Which NUST campus is best for electrical engineering?
NUST offers EE at SEECS, CoEME, MCS and PNEC, all under the same degree rules and fee. Choose on city and on the neighbouring programmes, since the merit position for each changes every year.
Which NET is for electrical engineering?
NET-Engineering: Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%.
Can ICS students do electrical engineering at NUST?
Yes. ICS students can apply for all engineering programmes but must clear Chemistry as a remedial course in the first semester.
Can a pre-medical student apply for NUST EE?
Yes, through NET-Engineering. Without additional Maths you must pass NUST's 8-week online Mathematics course with 60% before admission.
