NUST Business School (NBS) admits undergraduates to BBA, BS Accounting and Finance, and BS Tourism and Hospitality Management through NET-Business Studies and Social Sciences. That paper is Quantitative Mathematics 50% and English 50%. BBA takes any HSSC subject combination with at least 60%. Accounting and Finance also needs Mathematics, Accounting and Finance, or Accountancy in HSSC.

Key facts

  • NBS programmes: BBA, BS Accounting and Finance, BS Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • Paper: NET-Business, Quantitative Mathematics 50%, English 50%
  • Minimum 60% in SSC and in HSSC
  • Tuition 2026-27: Rs 302,950 per semester
  • Plus a Harvard Business School licensing fee of Rs 15,000 a year

The three NBS programmes

NBS lists three undergraduate programmes on its site, each with a "Fall 2025 and onwards" scheme of studies:

ProgrammeHSSC requirement (60% minimum)
BBAAny subject combination
BS Accounting and FinanceMathematics, or Accounting and Finance, or Accountancy as a compulsory subject
BS Tourism and Hospitality ManagementAny subject combination

NBS began as the NUST Institute of Management Sciences in 1999 and took the NBS name in 2008, according to its own site. The site also reports that NBS has earned AACSB accreditation.

The same NET also covers business-adjacent programmes at other NUST schools: BS Economics, Mass Communication, Psychology and Liberal Arts at S3H, Public Administration at JSPPL, LLB at the Law School, and BS International Relations at CIPS from Fall 2027. One paper, one fee, many preferences. LLB has an extra condition: NUST wants a valid HEC Law Admission Test (LAT) score of at least 50%, and a LAT taken after classes begin does not count.

Who can apply

This is the most open door at NUST. Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, ICS, FA and Commerce students can all apply for BBA, as long as both SSC and HSSC are at 60% or more. FA students without Mathematics or Accounting can apply for BBA but not for BS Accounting and Finance.

A-Level students apply on IBCC O-Level equivalence first and confirm with A-Level equivalence before classes. The A-Level guide explains the 25% O-Level weighting for final-year A-Level candidates.

There is also an ACT/SAT route. For Business Studies and Social Sciences, NUST asks for a SAT score of at least 550 in each subject, or ACT Maths, English and Reading at 25 or more. ACT/SAT seats are limited. The ACT/SAT guide has the details.

The NET-Business paper

NUST publishes two weights: Quantitative Mathematics 50% and English 50%. On a 200-question paper the derived split is 100 and 100. NUST does not publish counts.

If you are switching over from engineering prep, adjust for this:

  • The maths is not FSc calculus. The quantitative maths syllabus on this site has eight chapters: algebra, trigonometry, geometry, matrices, sets and number systems, logs, probability and averages. It is speed arithmetic, not calculus.
  • English is half the paper. On NET-Engineering English is 20%. Here it carries as much weight as all the maths. Vocabulary, analogies and grammar decide your merit.

Start with averages, probability and English vocabulary. Then time yourself, because 180 minutes for 200 questions is 54 seconds each.

What NBS costs

NUST's 2026-27 fee page puts Architecture, Social Sciences and Business Studies in one column, and it is higher than engineering:

ItemAmount (PKR)
Admission processing fee (non-refundable)35,000
Security deposit (refundable)10,000
Tuition per semester302,950
Miscellaneous per semester5,000
HBS licensing fee, BBA, A&F and Tourism15,000 per year

So the first invoice for a BBA student comes to Rs 367,950: admission fee, security, first-semester tuition, miscellaneous charges and the HBS fee. NUST says the HBS fee goes on the admission invoice for BBA and Accounting and Finance. That total is our arithmetic from the published table. Fees are revised yearly. The fee guide and scholarships guide cover the rest.

Ranking your preferences

Business Studies and Social Sciences is its own discipline group in NUST's selection process. After merit generation you get one to two days to edit choices within that group. You can also request one change of preferences during selection, for a fee. List every programme you would genuinely take, in the order you want them, and nothing you would refuse. If you pay dues for one programme, you stay in line for upgrades to higher preferences as seats free up. If you would rather keep the seat you have, NUST's "Freezing the UG programme" form stops further upgrades.

Yes. BBA accepts any HSSC subject combination with at least 60% in both SSC and HSSC.

Can FA students apply for BS Accounting and Finance?

Only if Mathematics, Accounting and Finance, or Accountancy was one of their HSSC subjects. FA without those can still apply for BBA.

What is the NUST BBA fee per semester?

Rs 302,950 tuition plus Rs 5,000 miscellaneous per semester for 2026-27, plus a Rs 15,000 yearly HBS licensing fee.

Is there calculus in NET-Business?
