Yes, but only one kind. NUST links a free Sample Test on its admissions site, ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk, and it shows you the computer-based NET interface. NUST also states that it provides no preparation material, so there is no official full-length mock, past paper or question bank.
That leaves a gap every NET candidate has to fill. The sample test teaches you the buttons. It doesn't tell you what you would score. For that you need full 200-question papers from somewhere else.
Key facts
- NUST's admissions home page links a "Sample Test" at ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk/demo/index.htm
- The sample test is free and demonstrates the computer-based NET (CBNET) client
- NUST states it "neither conducts entry test related preparatory activities itself nor provides material in electronic or printed format for guidance of applicants"
- NUST also states that no such activity "is sponsored by NUST"
- No paid NUST practice test exists on any NUST page we checked
- The real NET is 200 MCQs in 180 minutes

What NUST says, word for word
The admissions home page carries a box headed "Caution". It reads: "NUST neither conducts entry test related preparatory activities itself nor provides material in electronic or printed format for guidance of applicants. Nor is any such activity sponsored by NUST." It then advises candidates to avoid organisations or people who claim a NUST link for test preparation.
So any academy, app or website that calls itself an "official" NUST prep source is wrong. That includes this one. SailToNUST publishes this post and has no link to NUST.
What the sample test is for
The sample test is a demo of the CBNET software. Its job is to make sure the interface doesn't cost you marks on the day. The things worth learning there:
- Selecting is not saving. On CBNET you pick an option and then press SAVE. Picking alone commits nothing.
- One clock. The timer counts the whole paper in whole minutes. No section timer tells you that you have spent too long on Mathematics.
- No question grid. You move with Next, Prev, First and Last. Jumping from question 12 to question 84 means 72 presses of Next.
- No flag before saving. Review stays disabled until an answer is saved, so you cannot flag a blank question and move on.
Spend 15 minutes on it a week or two before your test. Click everything. Then come back to it the night before so the layout is fresh.
If you sit a paper-based NET in Karachi or Gilgit, the interface lesson doesn't apply. The CBNET vs PBNET post covers which centres use which format and how the bubble sheet changes your pacing.
What the sample test is not
It is not a mock. It holds only a handful of questions. It doesn't give you a 200-question paper weighted like your NET, a score you can compare across weeks, or explanations of why an answer is right. NUST doesn't claim it does.
It is also not a preview of the real questions. NUST's FAQ says NET is based on SSC and HSSC studies. Nothing on the sample test tells you which chapters come up more often.
Use it to learn the controls. Use full papers to learn the test.
Where to get full-length practice
Since NUST doesn't publish mocks or past papers, every full-length NET paper you can sit is written by someone else. What matters is how close it is to the real format.
| What you need | Where to get it | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| The CBNET buttons | NUST's Sample Test | Free |
| A rebuilt CBNET client with real NET questions | SailToNUST CBNET simulator | Free |
| Full NET-Engineering papers in the CBNET layout | SailToNUST FLPs, 6 papers of 200 MCQs | Free |
| Recall questions from recent NETs | SailToNUST past MCQs, 2,927 questions | Free |
| More full NET-Engineering papers | Nustrive's FLP app (20), one each on Nustify, Parhlai and Tayarri, or paid courses | Free to paid |
The prep sites comparison lists ten options with prices as of October 2026.
A sensible order: learn the interface on NUST's sample test once. Try the simulator next, then sit full papers in the same layout so the buttons become habit under a real 180-minute clock. Review every wrong answer before the next paper. How many mock tests before NET covers the count.
Recall papers are not official either
Search "NUST past papers" and you will find PDFs labelled with NET dates. NUST does not publish its papers. These are recall papers, rebuilt from what candidates remember after the test. They are useful for topic coverage. Wording, options and answer keys can be wrong. Are NET past papers real? explains how to use them.
FAQ
Does NUST have an official mock test for NET?
No. NUST links a free sample test that shows the computer-based interface. It does not publish full-length mocks, and it states that it provides no preparation material.
Where is the NUST sample test?
On the undergraduate admissions site, ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk, under the "Sample Test" link. It opens at ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk/demo/index.htm.
Is the NUST sample test the same as the real NET?
It uses the same kind of interface, which is its purpose. It is not a full 200-question paper and does not predict your score.
Does NUST sell practice papers or past papers?
No. NUST says it neither conducts preparation activities nor provides material in electronic or printed format. Any past paper you find is a candidate's recall.
Is any academy officially linked to NUST for NET prep?
No. NUST says no preparation activity is sponsored by it and warns candidates against anyone claiming a link.
