Is Maqsad good for NUST NET?

SailToNUSTCreator of the site

Contents5 sections

Maqsad has no separate NET course. As of October 2026, its ECAT batch (Rs 15,000) is the course it says also prepares you for NUST NET. That batch covers NET's Mathematics and Physics well, but spends time on Chemistry that NET-Engineering doesn't test and gives English less weight than NET does.

So Maqsad is a reasonable choice if you are sitting ECAT and NET in the same year. If NET is your only test, you will pay for some content you don't need, and you will have to add NET-length practice yourself.

SailToNUST publishes this post. SailToNUST is a free NET practice site and one of the options a NET student might pick instead of, or next to, Maqsad. We have tried to say plainly what Maqsad does that we don't.

Key facts

  • Maqsad lists no NET-only course. Its ECAT 2026 batch says it covers NUST NET, NED, GIKI and UET
  • Price on the page: Rs 15,000
  • Daily live classes, 500+ recorded lectures, 15,000+ practice MCQs with explanations
  • A timed full-length mock every week, with national ranking. The page lists "Full-length NUST/NED/GIKI mocks with ranking"
  • Free before you pay: an ECAT demo class and a 9-question diagnostic quiz. There is no free trial of the batch
  • Subjects listed: Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science and English
  • NET-Engineering: 200 MCQs in 180 minutes, Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%, no Chemistry

What Maqsad's ECAT batch includes

We read maqsad.io/ecat on 20 October 2026. The page calls the course the ECAT 2026 batch, and its FAQ also calls it a crash batch. It lists:

  • Daily live classes on weekdays, with afternoon slots
  • 500+ recorded lectures
  • 15,000+ practice MCQs with explanations and doubt-solving, including 1:1 doubt support
  • A timed full-length mock every weekend, with national ranking
  • Weekly counselling sessions
  • Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science and English

The page says the course covers "NUST NET, NED, GIKI and UET" and lists "Full-length NUST/NED/GIKI mocks with ranking". Its FAQ says ECAT prep "effectively prepares you for NUST NET and GIKI too".

You can try Maqsad before paying through a free ECAT demo class and a 9-question diagnostic quiz. There is no free trial of the batch itself. Prices change, so check the page before you pay.

Where it fits NET

NET-Engineering and ECAT share most of their Mathematics and Physics. Both come from the FSc textbooks. A chapter like integration or electrostatics is the same chapter whichever test you sit.

So the teaching you get in Maqsad's Maths and Physics classes carries straight over. That is 80% of NET-Engineering by NUST's published weightings.

Maqsad also has things SailToNUST doesn't:

  • Live teaching. A teacher explains a chapter, and you can ask questions. SailToNUST has no video lessons and no live classes.
  • Doubt support. Maqsad advertises 1:1 doubt help. SailToNUST has written explanations on every question but no teacher to ask.
  • National ranking. Maqsad ranks you against other students on its weekly mock. SailToNUST doesn't rank anyone.
  • A schedule. If you skip study days when nobody is checking, a daily class fixes that. The academy vs self-study post covers who needs this.

Where it doesn't fit NET

The differences come from the two tests' patterns.

NET-EngineeringECAT, Pre-Engineering
Questions200100
Time180 minutes100 minutes
Mathematics50% (derived: about 100 questions)30 questions
Physics30% (derived: about 60 questions)30 questions
Chemistrynone30 questions
English20% (derived: about 40 questions)10 questions, comprehension only
Negative markingNoNo

NUST publishes percentages, not question counts. The NET counts above are derived from the 200-question total. The NET vs ECAT post has the full comparison and its sources.

Four gaps follow from that table.

Chemistry. About a third of ECAT is Chemistry. NET-Engineering has none. Any class hour Maqsad spends on Chemistry is an hour a NET-only student doesn't need. Chemistry does matter if you are sitting NET-Applied Sciences, which is 30% Chemistry.

English. ECAT's English is 10 comprehension questions. NET-Engineering's English is 20% of the paper and tests vocabulary, grammar and analogies. A course built around ECAT's English won't cover that. Use the English guide and the English practice set to fill it.

Length. Maqsad lists full-length NUST mocks next to NED and GIKI ones. Ask how many of the weekly mocks are NUST-length, because the batch is built around ECAT's 100 questions in 100 minutes. NET runs 200 questions on one 180-minute clock. Students who are fine at 100 minutes can fade in NET's last hour. Before your series, sit at least two papers at NET length.

The CBNET interface. In Islamabad and Quetta, NET is computer-based. The real client needs a SAVE click on every answer, has no question grid and won't let you flag a blank question. Practise on an interface that behaves the same way, such as NUST's sample test or the CBNET simulator, before your series.

Who should pick it

Maqsad's ECAT batch makes the most sense if:

  • You are sitting ECAT and NET in the same year, so the Chemistry hours aren't wasted
  • You want live classes and someone to answer doubts
  • You can add NET-length papers and NET English on top

If NET-Engineering is your only test, you may get more from a NET-specific plan. Self-study with the FSc books, chapter practice, and timed full-length papers covers the same Mathematics and Physics for free. Our 3-month plan sets out the weeks. The KIPS post asks the same question about KIPS.

FAQ

Does Maqsad have a NUST NET course?

Not a separate one, as of October 2026. Its ECAT 2026 batch page says the course also covers NUST NET, NED, GIKI and UET.

How much does Maqsad's ECAT batch cost?

Rs 15,000 on maqsad.io/ecat as it read on 20 October 2026. Ask Maqsad about the start date and refunds before paying.

Is ECAT preparation enough for NET?

For Mathematics and Physics, mostly yes. For English it isn't, because NET's English is 20% of the paper and goes beyond ECAT's comprehension questions. You also need practice at NET's length of 200 questions in 180 minutes.

Do I need Chemistry for NUST NET?

Not for NET-Engineering, which is Mathematics 50%, Physics 30% and English 20%. NET-Applied Sciences is 30% Chemistry.

Is Maqsad better than self-study for NET?

It depends on what you lack. Maqsad gives you live classes, doubt support, explanations on its MCQs and a weekly ranked mock. Its free demo class and diagnostic quiz let you try the teaching first. If you can keep your own schedule and sit timed papers alone, free resources cover the same syllabus.
