Is KIPS enough for NET?

SailToNUSTCreator of the site

Contents5 sections

KIPS covers NET's syllabus well, through video crash courses with 34 tests each, campus classes and its FUNG Prep books. What it doesn't guarantee is enough timed, full-length practice at NET's real length of 200 questions in 180 minutes, on an interface like the computer-based test. Add that yourself and KIPS is enough for most students.

SailToNUST publishes this post. SailToNUST is a free NET practice site and one of the options compared here.

What KIPS offers for NET

KIPS sells NET preparation in three forms. Students often mix them.

KIPS Virtual crash course. On 20 October 2026, kipsvirtual.com listed two courses: "NUST-NET I Crash Course Oct 26 (Engg)" with 79 videos and 34 tests, and "NUST-NET I Crash Course Oct-26 (Comp)" with 78 videos and 34 tests. Each runs 1.5 months and costs Rs 19,900. Both list "Full length papers" as a feature. KIPS explains the tests in recorded video discussion lectures, not in written notes under each question. There is no free trial or demo, so you pay before you see a lesson.

Campus classes. KIPS campuses advertise a 2026-27 Career Prep (Long FUNG) programme that names NUST, starting 20 September 2026. The page lists the session fee as "Call for Details" on (042) 111 547 775. Fees can differ by city, so ask for the campus you would attend.

The books. KIPS sells its entry-test books under the FUNG name. On Daraz (seller M.T.J., 20 October 2026), Math FUNG Prep, Physics FUNG Prep and English Skill Builder Prep cost Rs 1,200 each. A Maths, Physics and English prep and practice set costs Rs 7,999. kipspublications.com lists a FUNG ENGG full set at Rs 7,000, marked "Coming Soon". Many students who never join a KIPS class still buy the books.

What KIPS covers well

  • Teaching. Videos and classes explain a chapter from the start, and video discussions walk through each test. SailToNUST has no video lessons and no live classes, and KIPS does both.
  • A teacher to ask. In a campus class you can ask about a step you don't follow.
  • A schedule. A 1.5-month course with a fixed sequence keeps you moving.
  • Chapter volume. The practice books give you a lot of MCQs per chapter, sorted the way FSc is sorted.
  • Separate Engineering and Computing tracks. KIPS Virtual lists both. Note that NUST sets Computing programmes on the same NET-Engineering paper: Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%.

What you still need

Chapter practice and full papers train different things. Getting chapter questions right in a book doesn't mean you can hold 54 seconds a question for three hours.

Timed full-length papers. NET is 200 MCQs on one 180-minute clock. Sit at least a few at that length, in one go, before your series. KIPS Virtual lists full-length papers among its 34 tests. Ask how many of the 34 run the full 200 questions in 180 minutes. Free full-length papers add more.

The CBNET interface. In Islamabad and Quetta, NET is computer-based. The real client:

  • needs a SAVE click on every answer, or the answer isn't recorded
  • won't let you flag a question until you save an answer to it
  • has no question grid, only Next, Prev, First and Last
  • shows one clock for the whole paper and no score until you press FINISH

Students lose answers to the SAVE step, usually in the last ten minutes. Practise on an interface that behaves the same way. The pacing post has a plan for the clock.

English at NET's weight. English is 20% of NET-Engineering. Make sure your course gives it real hours, not a closing week. The English guide lists what NET tests.

Your own weak chapters. A class moves at the class's pace. Track which chapters cost you marks in full papers, then drill those, for example differentiation or electromagnetism.

Do you need KIPS at all?

NUST says it doesn't run preparation activities or provide preparation material. So KIPS has no inside link to the paper. You are paying for teaching and structure, and the syllabus is the FSc textbooks either way.

That makes the choice the same one we cover in academy vs self-study. If you need someone to teach a chapter and set the timetable, KIPS gives you that. If you already study daily, the FSc books, one MCQ book and timed papers can be enough. Our books post covers which books, and the Maqsad post asks the same question about Maqsad.

FAQ

Is KIPS enough to clear NET?

For syllabus coverage, usually yes. Add timed 200-question papers in 180 minutes, and practice on a CBNET-style interface if you are sitting the computer-based test.

How much is the KIPS NUST NET crash course?

KIPS Virtual listed its NUST-NET I Crash Course Oct 26 at Rs 19,900 for each of the Engineering and Computing tracks on 20 October 2026. Each has 34 tests. For the campus Career Prep (Long FUNG) programme, KIPS gives the fee by phone on (042) 111 547 775.

Is the KIPS FUNG book enough for NET?

It gives you chapter MCQs. Math FUNG Prep and Physics FUNG Prep cost Rs 1,200 each on Daraz as of October 2026. Read the FSc textbook for each chapter first, then use the book. Add full-length timed papers, because chapter practice doesn't train pacing.

Should I take the KIPS Engineering or Computing course for NUST CS?

NUST sets Computing programmes on the NET-Engineering paper, Mathematics 50%, Physics 30% and English 20%. Ask KIPS what differs between its two tracks before you choose.

Does KIPS have NUST past papers?

NUST doesn't publish NET papers. Anything sold as a past paper is rebuilt from what students recalled after the test. The recall papers post explains how to use them.
