Do you need to pay for NET mock tests?

SailToNUSTCreator of the site

Contents6 sections

No. In October 2026 a NET-Engineering candidate can sit 29 or more free 200-question mocks: 20 on Nustrive, 6 on SailToNUST and 1 each on Nustify, Parhlai and Tayarri. That is more than you have time to review, so paying buys other things: teaching, a national ranking or a schedule.

So the question isn't whether free mocks exist. It is whether you need what the paid ones add. SailToNUST publishes this post and its free papers are part of the count, so check the numbers against each provider's page.

Key facts

  • The real NET is 200 MCQs in 180 minutes with no negative marking
  • Free NET-Engineering mocks: Nustrive 20, SailToNUST 6, Nustify 1, Parhlai 1, Tayarri 1. That is 29 or more
  • Nustrive, SailToNUST, Parhlai and Tayarri need no sign-up. Nustify asks for a name and email
  • Business and Applied Sciences candidates get a free FLP each from Nustify and Parhlai
  • Maqsad's Rs 15,000 ECAT batch has a weekly full-length mock with national ranking
  • KIPS Virtual's NUST-NET I crash course is Rs 19,900 for 79 Engineering videos and 34 tests over 1.5 months
  • STEP by PGC's NUST course has 36 tests and 2 full-length papers
  • NUST publishes no mocks and no past papers

Two rows matter most. The first row shows that free Engineering papers are more than enough in number. The teaching row shows what paid options do that free ones don't.

How many mocks you can use

A mock is only worth something if you review it. Sitting a paper takes 3 hours. Going through 200 answers properly takes about as long again.

1 mock = 3 hours sitting + about 3 hours review = 6 hours
8 mocks = 48 hours
12 mocks = 72 hours

Over a 3-month plan, 8 to 12 full papers fit alongside chapter work. Beyond that, extra mocks crowd out the chapter practice that fixes what the mocks reveal. How many mock tests before NET works through the count.

Free papers cover that whole range several times over for NET-Engineering. Pick the ones you will review properly, and fill the remaining hours with chapter tests from the SailToNUST question bank and recall MCQs, which find weak topics faster than another full paper.

When paying makes sense

You need someone to teach you a subject. If your mock scores in Physics stay flat after a month of chapter practice, a mock won't fix that. A teacher might. Tabir Academy sells a NUST track at Rs 4,800 for a year's access. KIPS Virtual sells a full crash course at Rs 19,900.

You want a rank against other candidates. A raw score of 130 means little alone. Maqsad's weekly mock ranks you nationally, according to its ECAT page. Among free options, Nustify's test pages promise a percentile ranking, but on one paper per track, not every week. NUST itself ranks by aggregate, not NET score alone, so read any rank as a rough guide.

You need a schedule someone else enforces. A weekly mock on a fixed day is easier to keep than one you set yourself. Academies sell that structure. The academy vs self-study post helps you decide.

You are not on NET-Engineering. Business and Applied Sciences candidates have far fewer free full papers: one each from Nustify and Parhlai, so two per track. If you want more full papers than that, a paid course for your track may be worth it.

When paying is a waste

  • You haven't sat the free papers yet.
  • You sit mocks but skip the review. More papers won't help.
  • The course sells "NUST pattern" papers as if they were official. NUST states that it provides no preparation material and sponsors no preparation activity.
  • The course's mocks aren't 200 questions in 180 minutes. Short quizzes don't train pacing.

A free plan that works

  1. Learn the interface on NUST's sample test and the CBNET simulator.
  2. Sit one full paper to get a baseline.
  3. Spend two weeks on the chapters where you lost the most marks.
  4. Sit the next paper. Repeat until you have used SailToNUST's six.
  5. Add Nustrive's free FLPs, then Nustify's, Parhlai's and Tayarri's mocks, as review time allows.

FAQ

Are free NET mock tests good enough?

For practice in the real format, yes. Nustrive, SailToNUST, Nustify, Parhlai and Tayarri all offer free 200-question papers. What free mocks lack is teaching and a weekly ranking.

How many free NET mocks are there?

For NET-Engineering, as of October 2026: Nustrive 20, SailToNUST 6, and 1 each on Nustify, Parhlai and Tayarri. Together that is 29 or more.

Which paid NET test series gives a national rank?

Maqsad's ECAT batch, which says it covers NUST NET, lists a weekly full-length mock with national ranking. It costs Rs 15,000 as of October 2026.

Does NUST provide official mock tests?

No. NUST links a free sample test that shows the computer-based interface, and states that it provides no preparation material.

Are there free mocks for NET Business or Applied Sciences?

Yes, but fewer. Nustify and Parhlai each have a free 200-question FLP for Business and for Applied Sciences. Nustify asks for a name and email. Parhlai needs no sign-up. SailToNUST's full papers are NET-Engineering only.
